Urban Fabric juxtaposes and superimposes vintage fabric with vernacular Los Angeles architecture. Driving LA, surface, texture, signage, color stories and reflections in front of me and peripherally prompt the snap shot. A city understood by velocity, the windshield is the interface and frame through which the moving images merges into Photoshop’s workspace. The fabric fragments, incomplete in their pattern and motifs, are dissociated from their original context as clothing or yardage just as the passing images are glimpses of the street.With these fabric scans the material becomes immaterial. Urban Fabric recreates landmarks of my personal reveries in archi-texture.
